GREEN SPACES

The grounds of Abbey Park will become an intrinsic part of the natural beauty of St Andrews. A landscape architect has been appointed to ensure that the extensive grounds reflect the Georgian influences of the architecture and every care has been taken when planning how the landscape will fit in with its surroundings.

Informal soft landscapes of parkland trees such as Horse Chestnut, Lime, Beech, Copper Beech and Holme Oak will be created, alongside native structure planting to reinforce bio-diversity. Clippings from the trees and bushes that have been on the site for generations will be replanted to retain the historical significance of the gardens. Abbey Park will be studied by Elmwood College to enable it to inform horticultural practices of the future.

The grounds of St Leonards originally benefitted from an orchard that supplied the school with fresh fruit. Knightsbridge will retain this historic orchard to allow residents of Abbey Park to pick fruit, straight from the trees.

public art will take pride of place alongside stunning water features
